Driver's License
« on: May 10, 2022, 03:35:04 am »
If you are more than 75 years old here in Iowa, you have to renew your driver's license test every 2 years and it's my time to do it.  I have an appointment this afternoon at 2:30.  It means I have to pass the dreaded eye test.  Two years ago I couldn't pass the test so they reached in a drawer and got another test out for me and I did pass that one.  Hope I can do it again or otherwise I won't be able to drive.

BWAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....................OH MY BRAIN or OH MY EYES!!!
I went to my 2:30 driver's license appointment.  Larry said he thought he should take me because if I failed the eye test I shouldn't be driving home, so he took me.  They called my number and I went up and the clerk asked for my current driver's license.  She looked at it and said "Oh, you are a year early, this isn't due until next year".  We both laughed and I went on my merry way.  I squinted at my license and I see now it says it's due in 2023, not 2022.

Yep, I've got another year before I have to worry about passing that eye test.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Linda, THAT is exactly the sort of thing I would do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT maybe you DO need your eyes tested if you get the date wrong
You have to renew your driving licence every 5 years here once you reach 70 ( but I think it might be every 2 years  when you get older )    I had to do mine once I was back in Helensville... must have been 2020.  Luckily it was OK but I know it was borderline for needing glasses for driving !!

Well, it was better than being a year late because then I would have had to take the written test and the driving test again.   HELP.......I don't want to have to do that.  For sure I need to have my eyes tested and if I don't pass the test then I should NOT be driving, for my own good and everyone else on the road.

I am not too sure how it's done here, but I do know when one is older there are eye tests to be done every so often, I am just not certain of the ages. At least I needn't worry about that for the moment.

I had to do an easy eye test with some machine in the AA office when I was applying to get my new NZ licence after I had been back here a year as My Aussie licence ran out ..  BUT I also had a note from my optician to say I passed the Optical Driving test.

Ahem Linda .... SHUT UP do not remind her
