I am going back to Aussie !!!!
NZ .... A magnitude 5.8 earthquake was felt across the centre of the country on Thursday evening.

It struck at 9.07, 30 km north-east of French Pass at a depth of 51km, GNS Science said.                          !
More than 43,000 people reported feeling the quake.

 Just South of here !!!!    I was on the LOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY feet started to tingle on the floor ...... then the toilet wobbled !!!!!!!!!!!!! Help,  I will not sleep now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What if we have aftershocks ?  Help I need a bottle of wine / whiskey  or something !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had Annie in Perth and Dan, who is in Auckland and Matt also ..... ringing to check we are all OK !  Phew so far ... no after shocks ! But the wind is blowing madly and the tree outside are rattling !!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP IS RIGHT, an earthquake would be so BAD and I'm glad you are okay and didn't fall off the toilet!  I hadn't heard this on the news today but then I didn't hear much news.  I hope and pray there will be no aftershocks!!!

All good today apart from the on and off sleepless night what with the wind blowing and the rain pouring down and the woodwork here in the studio creaking all night and then wondering if there will be any aftershocks ................. apparently there was one small one but we did not feel it !!!!!!!!!!!! It ended up being 5.8 but it was shallow and closer than I thought as it was directly South of us in the ocean !!!! 
Bonnie was saying how she was doing something on her computer and she felt a bit of a shake then Jack came running  into the lounge yelling Earthquake, closely followed by Cash from his bed ... so they got under the door frame as their old house was rattling and shaking .... Greta never moved from her bed !!!!!   

I read that there have been a few earthquakes around the world this last week !!!!

They got "under the door frame"?????  I don't know what that means?  I'm just glad  you are all safe and no injuries of any kind. 
I do think an earthquake is the worst of all natural disasters because there is really nowhere you can go to escape it.  At least with a tornado you can go to the basement IF you have one.

Drop, Cover and HOLD is what they teach in schools. 
The door frame I mean is the wooden frame around a door as they USED to be built holding up the main framework of the house structure....  BUT I read now that is wrong !!!!!!!! When we first came to NZ that is what we were told to do... get under the door frame !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we did on the first smallish earthquake we ever felt .  When we had our first BIG earthquake in NZ in Marton we all got under our big heavy, wooden dining table ! Stop, Drop and Cover ! It seemed safer !

As soon as an earthquake starts: "Drop to the floor, take cover under a sturdy piece of furniture and hold on to a leg of the furniture. If suitable furniture is not nearby, sit on the floor next to an interior wall and cover your head and neck with your arms.
"In modern homes, doorways are no stronger than any other part of the structure ... If you are in bed, stay there, hold on and protect your head with a pillow."

OIC.............that's interesting.  When you say door frame you just mean to stand in the doorway, I think I geddit it now.  It's something we don't have to worry about, thank goodness.

I remember as a very young child hiding under our dining table when a big earthquake hit, I was about 4/5 and I will never forget the terror I felt. I have felt many more since then and each time it's terrifying. I am glad you were all safe (((((Moira)))))

And so far NO More around here ! The only earth quakes I remember have been around this area over the years we have lived here !
