Got an email...
« on: June 22, 2020, 09:44:07 pm »
.. from the local hospital to say they can fit me in for a heart scan. Its a follow up from when I was there last February. I got the email Friday and had to ring them Monday to say I am free whenever :) I have an appt. tomorrow at 2pm.

I have only just realised while writing this to you two .................. that I was thinking of going to the wrong hospital !!!!!!!!! WAITAMATA Health Service OR WAITAKERE Health Service,  both in Auckland !!!!

Please bear with me while I explain this.... to myself.   Waitakere is where I went for my chest Xray and ? HELP !...  my eyebrow lump excision !

Waitemata or North Shore Hospital is where I was taken by ambulance last February and given anti indigestion tablets ! OMG thank goodness I decided to tell you where I was going or else I would have turned up at the wrong hospital ! I have to say Waitakere hospital is easier to find !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a map for Waitemata !!! Maori ? Who talks Maori !!!
OK you can stop laughing now and I am off to bed !  ;D    ::)

Yep I'm laughing and so glad I could be of help while you figured out where to go tomorrow!    Both names are so similar and STRANGE I might add.  Is it one hospital with two different locations or just two similar named hospitals?  If you had a GPS device phone or otherwise you wouldn't need a map for anything, it's SO NICE REALLY!

DARIEN can you read my mind ????????????
I lay in bed last night thinking about finding North Shore Hospital... I would find it but I would have to leave in plenty of time etc etc. and there were no shops nearby. YES I was going to go to the wrong hospital Linda !!!!!

IF It was Waitakere hospital then I know where to go and can also visit Spotlight  ( material, sheets, curtains and arts and crafts shop Linda ) as it is near the hospital. I have not been to Spotlight for months !
When I got up I re-read the email and see it was addressed from Waitemata ( North Shore )  but I thought I would ring anyway just to make sure !!!!  Good job I did as the woman on the phone had a chuckle because I was confused !!  I had to go to Waitakere ... Yippee, " it is closer to you ".. she said !!! Phew !
So I went via Spotlight and just bought some poster paint and a couple of canvases.
The CT scan took an hour. Nice young girl did it under supervision as she was a learner.  I will get the results in a few days !
PS Linda while in the waiting room I checked out the people waiting..... 14 mostly female, various ages, all white and 2 Asians.  No special separate seating  now. When the called names..... they used Christian names :)

GOOD, you figured out where to go before you left home.    Those names do make it confusing, that's for sure.  Calling out only the Christian names has to be a privacy thing and it must happen all over.  Let us know what the results show Moira.  Did the CT scan bother  you, seems like it has before?

Thankfully it was not one of those scans when you go into a machine and have to have an injection so the veins etc can be seen. I DID check on that before I even said I could go !
It was and ECG I had,  An electrocardiogram to record the electrical signals in my heart.  It was actually a follow up that I requested a year or so after coming to Helensville  ..... because I had the stent in Perth !!!! Nana Jill said I should have a follow up because she did !    So I have in fact waited almost 1.5 years for that follow up !!!!!!!!!!!! I did not realise that was it until I saw the name of the GP who ordered it. I have not seen him for over a year !!!
Its OK calling out the Christian names as long as the person calling them can speak English !!!!! Half the staff in Waitakere are foreign !

OH I WONDERED, you said a CT scan which was what I had at Mayo and I went into a machine, but it was open at both ends and my head wasn't even in it.   I know what you had, I think I do.  It does take quite awhile.  Still  no results I presume.

An ECG is when they wire you up and test the rhythm of your heart and your Dr could have done that for you! It's a simple examination and no big machines involved. How did you get a scan out of that Moira!!?

I am getting more confused ! The girl who did the scan / ECG .... said it was like a pregnancy scan !   Yes it was just a computer screen and some leads on my chest area. She ran this gadget all over and watched the screen and I had to take a deep breath etc every now and again.  John also said they could probably have done it at the clinic here !!!!!!! IF I did have to go to the far away hospital then I would have rung the clinic to see of they could do it and I WILL ask next time I go ! NO results so far !

Yes, that's what I thought it was, Larry has had so many different heart tests it's hard to keep them straight.  He is going to his cardiologist this afternoon for his 6 month check-up.  I always go since he doesn't ask questions and he doesn't remember what the doctor tells him, it's the way he is NOW.  I can't be going to any doctor's offices when I don't have to and especially now with my low white blood count.  If he says "I don't remember" to every question I ask when he gets home, I'll call the nurse and find out.  I have permission to talk about Larry with them so I know I can do it.   He's been coughing a lot and wheezing so I want him to ask about that.  He shouldn't have to ask because they will be listening to his chest and should hear it and let him know if they think it's a problem to check out with his GP.

Sounds like you had an echo sound scan where they measure the rhythm of your heart etc.

Ia m glad you aren't going with Larry at the moment Linda. Hopefully you will get a good report from Larry's specialist trip, either by him telling you, but probably by you ringing the nurse up about it.

Well, Larry came home and reported well enough that I didn't call.  He said the doctor wants him to have his carotid arteries checked because it's been 3 years since the last check so he's doing that in a couple of weeks.  The doctor gave him the name of an over the counter medication for the wheezing..........apparently he didn't think he has pneumonia.  He had only lost 2 pounds and the doctor never even mentioned that.  It seemed like a pretty good report to me.  I think the doctor is much more concerned with people with heart disease who are over weight.  I really thought Larry had lost more than 2 pounds but I guess not.

I still haven't heard any results from the ECG !
Good job Larry seemed to recall what he had been told as you really should not be going out much at the moment anyway
Yar was always plump ... I think I look just like her but as she got older she began to lose weight naturally without trying so I am hope I will go the same way as I am ( Slightly ?   ;D ) overweight right now !!!!!!

My Mother was slightly plump  and she lost weight and died at a weight of 78 pounds, I do NOT recommend that!
