Just read this book

The Third Hill North of Town by Noah Bly.
It is an American book  ... shut up Linda :0  Basically it is about this oldish, retired school teacher who's family died years ago because a mad man burned down her family home in Maine.  Well the woman is in a psych hospital because she keeps thinking she is a teenager again and want to go back to her home town which no longer exists as it turns out the whole town of Pawnee has burned to the ground.  Long story short she escapes from the mental hospital and picks up 2 young men and they go with her to Pawnee in Missouri. She mentions some Iowa towns and one was called Mullwein. I was thinking of your town Oelwein and so I looked up Mullwein but apparently there is no such place ! Anyway I was thinking of you last night while I finished the book  ;D

Sometimes they change the names slightly in books, so perhaps it was Olewein and she changed the name a bit :)

I definitely have never heard of Mullwein and I see why, it's fictional.  Is this a true story Moira, or just fiction?  It sounds pretty interesting and I can see why you thought of me since Iowa was mentioned.

Did you read it to the end?  Do  you ever  not finish a book because it's not your thing?

I did read it to the end as I got engrossed in it and finished it at midnight ! Strange ending !
I do have 2 books half read.... I keep them in case I am desperate and have nothing to read ... I bought them and paid $30 for them so I WILL read them eventually !!!! One of them is a bit long winded and the writer keeps repeating the same old thing a few times .... it gets boring ! The other book has so many names in it have to really concentrate to keep up with who is who... not a good idea when I am in bed and a bit tired   ::)

I can see if you pay out $30 you would want to read them even if they aren't exactly your cup of tea.  I would hate to have to keep my mind on all of the names.

Yes we do have a library here but it is not very big. I was there today as my books were due back and I looked for Cross Stitch but the woman working there today said all Diana Gabaldon books were out and some were on order.  I asked about Cross stitch and she looked it up... seems its name has changed to  "The Outlander".  Apparently Cross Stitch first published in UK but it was called The Outlander in US and since then the name has changed to Outlander ! Anyway I have it on order :)

It's good you got  your book ordered.  Why would a book's name be changed, I don't get that?

Without even looking at the site, I would say that it's mainly because of the TV series being called 'Outlander'. I shall look at the site now and see....

Actually that site doesn't exactly say why the name change, at least if it does, I did n't see it, just the differences edited in the books that the Americans published. Trust them to want to take over.....sorry Linda

Hmmmmm..........I don't know a thing about these books or about the TV show, movie or whatever it is.  The thing I notice about this Darien is what you say about Americans "wanting to take over".  I know Moira feels this way, I didn't realize  you do and I don't exactly understand why you think this way.  I'm just curious, you don't have to be sorry about the way you feel, I'm the one who should feel sorry that you feel this way about my country and I do feel bad about it.
