Ardie = RD = Rainbow Dust Maggie's puppy   As for Kevin, he has been missing for a few weeks now. He used to live in the swimming pool room but has not been seen for ages. Bonnie thinks he got fed up of the dogs chasing him up the tree !!!  How can we NOT leave stuff outside ... she was into my plants the other day and into my bags of soil ! She even chases birds !

Ardie is a pup and from an active breed, so of course she is going to get into stuff and cause damage and the only way to prevent it is training, or not leaving stuff around for her to get at.

If Kevin has been gone for a few weeks, I doubt he will come back. Cats won't leave their territory usually. How old would he be now?

I don't think Maggie or RD are really trained ... they know NO, SIT, STAY  and stuff like that but it will be hard to keep them caged up in a small area as they have always been free to roam in  Helensville and here too. Dan has ordered an electric wire fence thing to go round the garden area to keep the dogs inside and not let them out on the road chasing other dogs going past ! 
I think it might be easier to train a dog IF you only have a small garden area well fenced in.

Training a dog has nothing to do with the size of the garden, how do you think farmers train their working dogs, in a small yard??
An electric fence is a great thing to have and will be much better for them and safer!!

Well people do train their dogs I suppose especially if they are allowed inside the house. Lots of dogs here are not allowed inside the house as they are outside dogs. Our dogs in Marton were all outside dogs and they were taught NOT to go outside the gate onto the road. Sometimes they disobeyed of course !!!!!!!!!!!!! But we were well fenced in. John built a big tall fence along the road side ... took him ages but it is still standing to this day   Plus we had the railway fence along the paddocks side and a stream.

Moira probably wouldn't be bothered by a dog but I would and I KNOW your dogs are well behaved Darien.  How about Kylie and Belinda, do they have dogs and are they well trained too? 

So Ange and I were alike in the untrained dog business.  I suppose there are lots of people like us but it seems like most people don't mind if a dog jumps all over and licks them.
