I have not heard that said  but I know Annie had both her knees reconstructed and it was painful. She was young and fit too.  I would imagine any reconstruction when you are older would be hard to recover from and probably more painful too.

I should imagine to have either done would be painful and if they are older persons, even more painful :(

I'm pretty sure anything for an older person is worse than for a young person.  Annie is so YOUNG to have had both knees done.  How long are these repairs supposed to last?

Hopefully Annie's knees will last for ever IF she doesn't keep playing netball or doing keep fit stuff !!!!! Are these reconstructions supposed to last for ever ?

My friend Mary had a bad knee long ago, when we had young kids but at the time the doctor told her she could not have replacement surgery because it wouldn't last.  Back then I'm sure things were way different.  She did have the knee surgery a few years ago, not sure they tell you how long it's supposed to last now.'
I got this answer after I Googled "how long does knee replacement surgery last?"

Doctors first started replacing knees in the early 1970s. Back then, surgeons said the new knees would last about a decade or so. Today’s implants will last 20 years. By 2030, it’s estimated doctors will perform about 450,000 total knee replacement operations a year.

Interesting. Its not something I ever thought about ! I will ask Annie when I next talk to her. Maybe she will get arthritis in her old age !  Maybe all of the kids will too ! Dan had his knee done 10+ years ago and Matt had the first one when he was 18 in Dunedin … 18 years ago !!! But he had part of the same knee redone in Perth when he would have been 30.

They use titanium now, don't they? I am sure that would last almost a lifetime even in the younger ones.

I have no idea what they use for replacement. I have heard of Titanium  but not sure.

Surely you don't mean that Dan, Annie and Matt have all had knee replacement surgery????  Maybe the boys just had some sort of knee repair but not replacement?   You must be a family of weak knees???  Or, maybe more likely, very athletic people who do more exercising than they should?  I know I must have known all of this but I fear I forgot. 
You know me............not the most observant person on earth.  I JUST noticed today that we have an ad on the page where it shows all of our posts.  My ad shows fancy ball gowns, like someone would buy for prom or some such thing.
What do you girls have?

Your memory is rubbish Linda  :)  Dan did his knee snowboarding. Matt playing rugby and Annie playing netball and basketball  :)
I also mentioned a week or more ago that I had ads. Nobody made any comments !!! Tonight my ad. is Specsavers !
