I saw your picture of your dinner on FB Darien but I did not like to ask ... What is Cabbage Bake ? I have almost a whole fresh cabbage from Bonnie's friend and apart from doing a bit of coleslaw I have not used it, I need a recipe !  Thanks  :D
Also I keep forgetting to ask .. how is Hugo ?

I'm glad you saw my answer to Wilma, yes, that is grated cheese on top. I steam the cabbage first and put it in a tea towel to drain as much of the water out of the cabbage as possible, squeeze all the water out. When that is done, put in a dish add chopped up bacon. Mix 3 eggs and about 300 mls milk, add a pinch of salt and cayenne pepper, or paprika, pour over cabbage, add cheese on top and bake for about 45 mins. We have it with crunchy fresh bread, usually a vienna loaf :)

YUM, except for the cayenne pepper, it sounds too hot for me but maybe I could tolerate a little.  This sounds SO GOOD and I know it was and I saw the picture of it and that PIE..........YUMMY!   Let us know how yours turns out Moira.  Larry always thinks he has to have meat so is Robert okay with a no meat dish?

You don't have to put the pepper in, I don't put much in as I don't like spicy food either. No, Robert doesn't mind a meatless meal at all, he is used to it as I prefer vegetarian meals myself :)

We quite often have vegetarian meals here too as I love vegies. John does not complain either.  I made MY version tonight for dinner HAHAHA wait for it .... I had some slow cooked pork left over from Sunday dinner and some sweet potatoes and some lovely gravy  so I put the potatoes and the pork into the dish and I did steam the cabbage plus some cauli, some Bok Choy and a small onion and garlic then I added it all to the top of the pork. I did not use eggs or cheese this time and just poured the gravy over it and put it in the oven. It was very nice and very edible but another time I will do as you suggested and use eggs and cheese to see. I also added some garlic and courgette seeds as a topping ! I will put up a photo on FB .

It does but I'm still pondering the thought of gravy with the cabbage.     I think I would prefer cheese over gravy but I'm a super big cheese lover.

Robert loves cheese as well and he found some lovely cheese in Aldi, so he goes back now to get his cheese from there :)

John liked it yes :) HE eats everything I make normally or else he has to cook for himself !!!!!!!!!!!!   :D  I did wonder about the gravy and the cabbage Linda but it was not very much and the gravy was thick and anyway John has gone off cheese as he says it is giving him indigestion ! I often make cheese sarnies at lunch time and he has said NO thanks for the last week and his Blood sugar is better today !
What kind of lovely cheese does Robert get in Aldi ?

I was going to ask Darien about the Aldi cheese too Moira.  I love cheese sandwiches, actually I love cheese anything.  I had a cheese sandwich for lunch today and it was GOOD.  I get this really good 12 grain bread that is so good and it makes a yummy sandwich.  So cheese gives him indigestion and raises his blood sugar?

I don't know what cheese it is and he doesn't have any at the moment, so I can't even look for you both, sorry :( I love a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich, comfort food :) But I just have a cheddar cheese.

I wouldn't want a tomato on my cheese sandwich, I don't want a drippy sandwich.

I have to be at the chemo treatment place at 7:45 in the morning so I'll be going to bed early tonight.  Tomorrow night I won't sleep at all and so another cycle starts again.
