Tom's Picture
« on: January 04, 2020, 10:27:29 am »
I was looking at Pam's pictures on FB and I see you said Tom looked  young in that picture of him and Emma.  He will be 49 in June so he isn't really young but 49 does sound REAL young to me.    I'm sure he would be happy to know you said that but he doesn't do FB so he won't know unless Mary shows him.

Tom did have a beanie hat on like Emma and the pair of them looked like brother and sister. I cannot believe Tom is nearly 49, almost 50 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would both love this news.  Tom's age and the fact you said they looked like brother and sister.  Emma often says things about her skin color.  You wouldn't think it would bother her, but it does.  She hears things said about Hispanics and no matter how many times I tell her "you are lucky to have a year around tan", it still affects her.  She KNOWS she is different than we are no matter what and I suppose a person would.
I like the red sweater girls, but I thought I looked WIDE in it.  I don't even know why I care?  I'm an OLD WOMAN OF 80, who gives a hoot whether I'm wide or wider!

((((((((((Emma)))))))))) I often wondered if she would start to notice the difference and wondered how she would respond, I guess it's only natural. Tell no matter what her colour is, she is beautiful inside and out and she will be always find herself surrounded by love

You certainly did NOT look wide in your lovely red jumper

Emma does just look like she has a slight tan, so she has no need to worry about that in this day and age !(((((((((((Emma))))))))))))))
I say the same as you Linda.... who cares really what I look like anyway as long as I am clean and tidy...   I love wearing my mens pyjama pants and have 3 pairs, they look just like normal, comfy trousers and they are so cool if it is warm.  ( $8 from KMart !!!) :) :) :)
Anyway the majority of women I see in the paper and on TV / computer .. apart from models etc etc  … normal women,  they are ALL wide and have lumps where we should really not have lumps !

I'm sure I told you girls when Emma was really little, maybe 5 or 6, one day I said something about how white I was when Emma held her arm up next to mine.  She said "I wish I was white"............that was the first I ever knew of her thinking that way but it isn't surprising.  That's the first time I ever mentioned her lovely tan, but she was too young then to care about a tan.
Oh yes Moira, most people my age or your age or Darien's for that matter are not slim and trim.  A few are but more are a bit plump.  I know I told you long ago that I read that the the most unhealthy person is a thin older woman, I guess it's not a good thing to be.

OH Linda you have made my day hahahahaha I did not remember you saying 'An older thin woman is most unhealthy' :) That makes sense to me and I agree. :)  Phew :)
I actually vaguely remember Emma telling you she wishes she was white.  Did we think maybe some other kids in Kindy had been making comments back then ? Anyway she has grown up to be a lovely young woman … tanned or not ... she is gorgeous. (((((((((((((((Emma))))))))))))))

I'm so glad I made your day with  my "thin old lady" news!
It's nice of you girls to say such nice things about Emma.  I don't think she goes around dwelling on the fact she has dark skin but I do know she thinks about it and with all of the talk of "race", it's no wonder she does.

As most hispanic nations are not well received in America, I am sure Emma does think about it, but I am happy to say she seems to be doing just fine

I don't think Emma will be too badly affected by her Hispanic roots but it is a factor in her life.  She's just different from the norm here but that won't be true forever.  In some amount of years, I forget how many, the Hispanic population in the US will be greater than the white people so THEN Emma will be in the majority.

Is that what is forecast for America ? More Hispanics than white Americans ? I read that Muslims are taking over the world.. having babies left right and centre with all their many wives  !
