My primary schools were all smallish .... and I knew everybody in my class too. Sometimes in the whole school !!!!!

Don't you call the end of school "graduation"? We do here so that's why I said graduates. This was at the Oelwein public school but there was a Catholic school as well and it was smaller. Here at the school where Emma went, there are over 1700 in that school so Emma didn't know everyone in her class like I did back in the day.

The Waverley NZ school has only 90 kids in the whole school from ages 5 years to 11 years ! SO it is NOT a big school !

Anyway Waverley looks Ok and I went to lots of small schools in my primary school days ! Mainly Catholic schools I have to say and THEY did tend to be smaller schools. !

I'm sure Jack does very well in school but the extra learning won't hurt and can only help. I wonder if the schools are better where you are moving? You said Dan isn't very happy with the school where the boys go now.

Kip McGrath is extra learning . NOT that Jack is behind in any way BUT this is extra Maths teaching ! His reading, English and spelling is very good ! Also his general knowledge and his general speaking ability !!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes ... unfortunately he imitates Matt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is extra tuition in Maths and English ! Dan thinks the Maths teaching here is rubbish so he enrolled Jack a year or so ago and pays for it but it got cancelled due to covid last year and some lessons are owed as they were paid for in advance. This week Jack did Fractions in Maths !!!!!!!!!!!!! I can teach him English and I Do make sure he can spell and pronounce the words correctly !!!!!!!! Maths .... Pass !

Jack went to Kit McGrath this arvo ...so Greta and Cash were here and I took Greta to the supermarket with me and she MADE me buy all sorts of stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Especially a book/magazine for kids ... $9.99 made in UK and it had free kids pink nail polish and a bag ! Plus it had stickers ... we LURVE stickers ......and pictures to colour in. Well Greta and I had fun for 2 hours filling it all in !!!!!!!!!!!!! She went down home happy once Mummy and Jack got home....... along with all her book 'stuff' in a shopping bag .. including the biscuits she NEEDED for Kindy tomorrow ! :)

We then went to NZ and I worked a few days in the local Kindy opposite the Catholic school in Marton :) Convenient and Matt went there for a few days a week..... when I worked .. for free :) I had forgotten that :)

She does not have Time to do it properly ! I don't think she is learning much at Montessori except how to mingle and talk ! My girls didn't go to preschool, but they knew the alphabet, their numbers and were beginning to read some words on their own. I used to love teaching them and would make games out of it all. My goodness that was a long time ago!!!!! Belinda is now 48 and Kylie will be 47 in July

As it happened Dan was 5 in UK.... Oct. 2nd and he started school in the new September year before he was actualleh 5... well 4 weeks before he was 5 !
In NZ they can start when they are 5.. on their 5th birthday unless it is school holidays like Jack and Cash ! In NZ Annie 13th Jan. (Still Christmas / summer holiday) started when she was 5 years and 2 weeks :) Matt, May 7th started after the Easter holidays and he was not quite 5 .. but almost.

Here you have to start school by the time you are 6 but you can go if you are 5 and most kids do go at 5. Lots of people hold their kids back so they are more mature, Annie held Madden and Emmitt back because they had summer birthdays and would have been just barely 5. Breck's birthday is November 8th so she started at 5. Our school year starts in late August.

Greta will be 5 at the 28th of August so I THINK she can start primary school after the August holiday ( Our mid winter school holiday Linda ) OR maybe that is how it works in England ONLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both Jack and Cash have their birthdays in December so they both started Primary at the beginning of the school year in the January ! I will ask Bonnie because maybe Greta does have to wait until the January 2023 start of the new school year. I just looked it up and here in NZ you do NOT HAVE to start school here until your are 6 !!!! IT was always 5 in UK. You may be right Darien !!!!! AND we have talked about this before !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So will Greta start school this year then? Over here you have to wait for the new year to start school. Kylie was 5.5 when she started school, being born in July, she had to wait for the new school year which begins every late January.

YES they will miss having us there for the kids .. any time and any day !!!!! The boys will go to the local Waverley School ... not too far down the road from the house :) The new term starts after Easter and the boys will be just in time ! Kindy is further away for Greta but she will be 5 after the August winter school holidays when she can join the boys at Primary !

Bonnie's brother Sam and wife Ellie and their little girl live on the East coast from here.... they are going to UK for a month and need house sitters !!! Ellie is English :) SO the idea is that John, me and Matt go house sit for 4 weeks April / May and in the meantime Dan etc all make the move South plus furniture and stuff down to Waverley. Once settled there with all the moved stuff they can set the big office area of their house up with a kitchen .... so we can live there until we have permission for a granny flat on the property in Waverley ! The photo of the new house in Waverley has gone so I cannot see it !!!!!!!!
I think this is a good idea as it saves any hassle of us moving really except for packing !!!!!!
Plus Matt has been speaking to the CEO of Auckland Council and they do not want to lose him and his knowledge !!! ( He was supposed to be finished this week !!!! NO Jab ! ) SO he can now still work from home for another 2 months... good pay too !
Matt also spoke with his regional boss and she said they were glad of his legal knowledge and it meant they did not have to rely on the BIG legal council people who did not answer their questions for weeks ! Good eh ?
