Okay then, I air my bed and I always have!
I just didn't know what I was doing.
-
We don't have the yellow school buses like you do Linda, ours are just normal buses that do the school run.
Yes, that is what I call airing the bed. I pull the covers down about half way and I don't make it for a while after I get up.
-
You did ride the bus I see even if it wasn't one of our typical yellow buses.
You girls both mention "airing your bed", nobody talks about that here and I have never done that. I guess my bed gets aired because we get up and I don't make the bed until maybe an hour or so later, the covers are pulled back so it is aired. Is that what you girls mean when you say you air your bed?
-
Ah when I 'make' our bed in the morning I straighten the bottom sheet and fluff the pillows then I shake the duvet and then I fold the duvet half way back down the bed so the bed gets aired ! Well half of the bed gets aired ! I don't fold the duvet like in the European hotels but I Do fold it half way down ! The only time my bed is warm is when I put on the electric blanket and then I DO shake and spread the duvet ! .... Or when John is in it first to warm it up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Linda. I did ride the bus to school when I was 5 years old...in Leeds ... a normal city double decker bus .. Green I think !!!! Also when I was 9-11 living in the RAF station .. I cannot remember the colour of the bus but about ten of us Catholic kids used to get it to go to the Catholic Primary School in Exton... about 20 miles away from the RAF Camp. There was a primary school on the RAF camp but it was not Catholic !
PS. That wee Catholic school in Exton is now a private home !
-
So you did ride a school bus some Moira, was it the typical yellow school bus that I'm familiar with?
I'll leave you two to talk about your duvets.
-
Yes I know you should shake your feather duvet out, but I shake mine in the morning when I make the bed and it is still lovely and warm when I get into bed later that evening. It just seems like a weird concept to me as I am not used to it. When we go to posh hotels in the UK, they have feather and down quilts and the beds are made up already to climb in. perhaps the Swiss and Swedish hotels are colder and therefor need to be shaken out just before bed??
-
SO they STILL do the duvets like we did back in 1958 ish ??????
Darien you really only have to toss / shake your duvet ( normally only singles so easy to do ) into place in these posh hotels because they are Feather and Down and IF they were already spread over the bed you would just get into the bed normally as if they were blankets BUT they NEED to be fluffed up to create the warmth needed ! I am sure you know THAT is the secret of a Feather and Down or ....... Down and Feather duvet ????? Lots of .... English people or maybe American eg. Linda .................
would perhaps not even know that as they still use blankets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did used to get the bus to school when I was 5 in Leeds and again when I was 9-11 in RAF Cottesmore .... but after that it was boarding school apart from the school holidays when we got the train ! About 5 hours to get from Newcastle to Skipton in Yorkshire :)
-
Thanks Moira
Funnily enough we were watch a travel show over the weekend and one of them was in Switzerland and Robert got to sss how they left the bed for guests! I just can't conceive of going to a 5 star hotel and having to make one's own bed!!!!
-
I see about the duvets.............were we talking about that?

You did live at your school so you needed no bus. Did you ever just go to your local school and stay at home?
-
http://pension-schell.de/ausstattung/ How the duvets were left folded on the beds when I worked in Switzerland Or https://alpentraumhotel-schell-garmisch-partenkirchen.booked.net/
I think School buses work similarly here Linda, that if you live a certain distance from the local school there is a bus available !
I LIVED in MY school :)
-
So you know our yellow school buses? I never rode a bus to school in Oelwein nor did my kids here in Waterloo, except for Tim who rode the bus one year. At that time he went to a school which was over 2 miles from our house. In Waterloo, if you live 2 or more miles from school you get a free ride.
-
We do have school buses, but not like your yellow ones, just normal buses that are allocated as school buses for a certain time of the day. I used to catch public transport though. When I was in primary school though, I used to walk to and from school.
-
So you had to ride a bus or train to school? Public transportation and not a school bus? Do some kids there ride a school bus as they do here? I don't think that's something we have ever talked about?? I don't think Jack and Cash go to school by bus and if they lived here there would be a bus.
-
I used to travel by train when I worked in Sydney, in the city. Also when I was in high school I caught a bus and train.
-
I just looked at our bus website and I see it costs $1.50 now. I suppose maybe I paid a quarter??
-
My Mother never learned to drive either, but I think lots of women of that generation did not drive so it wasn't too unusual.
I can't remember how much I paid to ride the city bus back in 1966, I wonder?
-
I took some extra pain meds last night, so I slept much better and the hip is not quite as sore this morning. It will take a few months to heal, so I have to be patient and a bit more careful.
Moira, Can you put up the site again of the place you used to work at in Switzerland again, please? I was trying to tell Robert how the beds are left partially unmade and you have to do your duvet yourself and I waned Robert to see how they 'made' the beds up and I can't remember the name of the place.
-
(((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))))))) Go get your feet done professionally ! Can you do that nowadays ?
I don't think I have used a bus since I HAD to drive when we first got to NZ 1986 ! John says we used a London double decker bus to the airport before we left UK to fly to NZ !
Like you too Linda I did use a bus daily in Cambridge after I left school and we lived just outside Cambridge and I got a job in a department store in Cambridge. I did not stay working there too long, boring and my mate Janet and I got a job in Loch Awe in Scotland and we took the train !!!!
My Mum never did learn to drive nor did Cath but Ange did eventually pass her driving test after 3 goes .... but she never felt confident enough to drive very far !!!!
Only I had a full driving licence and if you recall .... I did get it under suspicious circumstances !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+
-
Oh ((((((((((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))))))))))))) How awful, you didn't need to have that happen and I'm sorry.
-
Same here, it's been many years since I caught a bus or train anywhere and I am not about to start now!!!!
While you two are busily creaming your feet, I tried to dry my right foot the way I always have before I hurt my hip, and only managed to hurt my hip again!!!! Now it aching and kept me awake off and on last night
-
I see you are allowed to MOVE, that's really good since that's what you will be doing! Lots of rules and regulations there I see!
Waterloo has a city bus line but I haven't used it in YEARS. The first year we were married we only had one car and Larry went to work early so he couldn't take me, so I took the city bus. Larry picked me up after work but I did take the bus to work. It was way too far for me to walk even though I was young then. That would have been a very long walk during a blizzard in the winter.
I'm fine doing my feet the way I do it so I won't change but you do whatever works for you Moira!!
-
I did not really read the stuff about Orange traffic light but we do need to wear a mask in the supermarkets ! Also on buses I think..... but what is a BUS ????????? IT has been years since I was on a bus !
https://covid19.govt.nz/traffic-lights/life-at-orange/
It is as clear as mud and I cannot even be bothered to read it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for creaming my feet after my shower Linda .... yes I DID try it your way and NO I could not do it properly. IT is much easier just standing on the floor and putting one foot up on to the toilet seat lid and moisturising your foot that way. Then doing the other foot !!!!!!!!!!
-
The only place I can think of here where I have to wear a mask is at a medical facility. I can't think of any store that requires a mask or the mall. We went to a funeral visitation last night and there were quite a lot of people there and only two people were wearing a mask.
-
The only time we have to wear masks these days is on public transport, in hospitals and in medical buildings like the Drs etc. If places are very busy, like the shopping centres, I will also wear a mask.
-
"They" must think you need a mask in the supermarket because you are around food? Seems crazy to me but I guess you have to do what you have to do. Will it be the same in Waverley?
I don't have my foot very high in the air when I do the "creaming".
I just went into the bathroom and posed in my "creaming pose". I don't lean on the counter, I just put one hand on it, lift my foot and cream, then turn in the other direction, lift the other foot and cream that one. Why don't I just sit on the toilet and do it since you asked about a toilet in the bathroom? Never thought of it because what I do works for me.
Did you actually try doing it Moira?
-
My toe nails seem to grow very fast as does my hair ... on my head and on my chin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE are now in covid ' Orange' Traffic light here in NZ ! I have not read all the bunf but we do not need masks UNLESS we are in the supermarket !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous ! I Might be able to get my toe nails cut BUT we are leaving here at the weekend so maybe I will have to check out the local places in Murrays Bay !!!
I do not know how you can manage to hold your foot in the air and cream it with both hands Linda, never mind using just one hand .....even IF you do lean your body on the sink ! NO chance !
-
I cut myself cutting my toenails a few months back too Moira!!!!
-
OH NO, I didn't realize cutting toenails could be so painful, but I can see how it could happen.
When I'm creaming my feet I do have the use of both hands, I just lean my body against the vanity. I only use one hand to cream my feet and believe me, now when I do it, I have the pleasant thought of YOU in my head.
Yes we do have a toilet in the bathroom and I could sit on it and do my feet but I never thought of it. I guess I'm just a creature of habit!
-
YOU CAN SEE ME Linda !!!!!!!!!!! I tried it this evening after my shower and NO way can I manage to cream my whole foot with one hand with my foot in the air and one hand holding on to the sink !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can however bend down with my foot on the floor and smear cream around but not UNDER my foot. SO my back is not too bad .. I can bend BUT it is far easier with one foot up on the loo !!!!! I can do it all !!!!!! Do you actually have a toilet in your bathroom Linda or is it in a separate room ?
As for sitting on a chair and holding my foot out and creaming it .......... never tried it ............... but probably NOT ! Using the loo is far easier !!!!!!!!!!!!! That is also how I manage to cut my toe nails... BUT tonight I almost took off the top of my second toe.. as I lost my balance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a plaster on it to stop the bleeding !!!!!!!!!!!!
-
(((((((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))))) The excruciating pain would for certain be noticeable!! So whenever you do too much, you have to suffer and what a shame.
I don't have a problem creaming between my toes with one foot in the air. I must be more of an acrobat than I realized.
Try it Moira, maybe it won't be as bad as you imagine.
-
Surely if you sit down on a chair you can bring your feet up enough to cream then Moira? Although, doing it with one foot on the loo is easier.
My Dr said normally it shouldn't have happened, but because my bones are so weak, it was easily done. It makes sense to me and why the pain suddenly hit me. I don't remember moving awkwardly, but then I wouldn't have paid any notice except the excruciating pain that occurred. It is sore this morning, I did too much yesterday
-
Well you must be quite athletic and agile still Linda !!! How can you cream in between your toes with only one hand and your foot in the air ??
-
I hope so too!!!!
-
I creamed in between my toes Moira, last night was the first time and now I'll do it and think of you. I don't know, but I can lean on the vanity, raise my foot and do the creaming. Why can I do it and you can't? My foot is in the air when I'm doing this, I don't have to bend very far over.
-
"People frequently incurring Avulsion Fractures are athletes and performers such as football players, ballet dancers, gymnasts and skiers. Their activities can involve a lot of sudden changes in direction, leaping and kicking."
Hahaha just thought I might lighten up your painful feelings Darien !
You are obviously young, fit and full of activity to incur this affliction !!!!!!!!!!!! ((((((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))))))))))))
I actually have a feeling that I did this with my elbow once when in Perth !!!!!
So I tried to do my feet this evening after my shower and there was no way I could just hold onto the vanity ( wash basin ) and massage cream into my feet on the floor ... I could not bend that far down even IF I held them up in the air for a short time !!! NO chance ! I also tried to sit down and cream my feet ... NO way can I bent that far to reach my feet either ! The only way I can do it is to put my feet up on the toilet lid and bend over ... half way to cream my feet ! Top and Bottom and in between my toes !
-
OH OUCH, that sounds awful. I just hope you can manage to break no more bones (((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))).
-
Ah that makes better sense, that you lean on your bathroom vanity unit!!! I can do that too, but I much prefer to be sitting down whilst I cream my feet, not that I have done so for a while!!!

No, no-one called me a drama queen, but sometimes that's just how I feel. The break I have is called an Avulsion fracture, never heard of that one before.
An avulsion fracture occurs when a small chunk of bone attached to a tendon or ligament gets pulled away from the main part of the bone. The hip, elbow and ankle are the most common locations for avulsion fractures in the young athlete.
-
I'm about as far from being athletic as you can get. Just try it and see, it's not hard at all and no, I don't cream between my toes but maybe I'll start now that you mention it.
-
Bugger Linda, you must be a bit of an athlete to be able to hold your foot up in the air AND cream the bottom !!!!!! Even IF you are leaning on the sink / vanity !!!!!!!!!! What about in between your toes
??????
Goodness Darien ... 7 broken bones over 12 years ? I broke my toe once !!!!!!!!!!!!!! End of story !
(((((((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))) I hope you can get some sort of pain relief and some sleep knowing you are NOT a Drama Queen
Who even suggested you might be a drama queen ?????????? Not Kylie I Hope !
-
7 broken bones in 12 years is shocking!! (((((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))))) It is no wonder you have had so much pain. You are not a drama queen, just a nice woman in PAIN!!!

I'm laughing here, NO, I don't put my foot on the counter top, I'm not THAT tall. I just lean my body against the counter so I don't fall over as I raise my foot so I can cream the bottom of my foot while standing.
-
That's all very well for tall people, no way could I reach my vanity unit with my foot!!!!! If I have to, I use the toilet like Moira does.
I have an appointment with the Physiotherapist next Wednesday afternoon, hopefully he will help me. The pain is a constant dull ache and sometimes it is a sharp pain, depending what I do. I worked it out yesterday that this is the 7th broken bone I have had in the past 12 years!!! I am not surprised I had broken a bone in my hip as I kept telling Robert that's what it felt like. The X-ray done at Canberra didn't show it, but that doesn't surprise me either as there were lots of calcification and 'gaps' from the osteoarthritis. No wonder I was in so much pain, nice to know I am not a drama queen!
-
We have a vanity in our bathroom and I lean against it when I raise my foot so I don't fall over. I'm talking about the counter top on the vanity.

((((((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))))))))))) This sounds awful and painful even if it is not a weight bearing bone and in your hip too .... your hip moves every time you walk or even move !!! I too would not be happy taking strong pain meds and I have refused them when I might have needed them ! Go to the physio and do what they tell you and eat less..... there is not that much physical exercise you will be able to do ..... ! I hope it will all feel better by the time you go on holiday !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think positive

I too used to massage my feet with cream and I did put my foot up onto the toilet lid to do it after my shower every night !!!!!!! What is the bathroom Counter ?????
But I will blame Darien for me not doing it nowadays because SHE told me to go use the Pedicure people in the shopping centres ......... and I started doing that in Perth then I did it here ... until covid !!!!!!!! BUT because we do not need covid passes as from this week ..... I CAN go and get my toe nails cut and my poor feet massaged and creamed AGAIN :) Phew :) Maybe tomorrow :)
-
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) It sounds a bit like Larry breaking ribs last summer and he didn't know it. I can see you not wanting to take such strong pain medication but the thought of you being in pain is awful.
-
The results of my CTScan were in and I had broken a bone in my hip!!!!! It's not a weight bearing bone, so no need to have anything done, just time and physiotherapy will mend it. No wonder I have been in so much pain. It's hard to explain, but because my bones are so weak, due to prednisone use, when I have moved a certain way the main muscle in my buttocks has tightened and not given way and sheared off part of a bone. My Dr said it will take a long time to heal, if at all and advised me to do physio and offered me more pain meds. He wrote me a referral to a Physiotherapist and I declined the pain meds as I have some and I don't want anything stronger. It is now even more important that I lose weight to help my poor old body!!!
I used to use the nail places to have a pedicure and they would get rid of the dead skin and put cream on, but I don't use them anymore, so my feet have been neglected of late!!
-
I don't lean down when I do my feet. I stand by the bathroom counter and raise my foot and rub the lotion in that way. I guess I do bend down a little ways I suppose.
-
I too am so pleased to hear that you slept well last night ((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))) Maybe you were Over tired with your hip pain ? Every so often I sleep well ALL night .... it is like a catch up sleep !!!!!
IN summer .. in the heat of Perth anyway ...... I always used to massage my feet with lotion after my shower and it did help keep them moist ! IT is not so HOT here .... so nowadays I do not bother !!!!!!!! Too much hard work to bend down !!!!!!! Maybe I should as my feet are a bit dry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I do only wear flip flops .... for months on end !!!!!!!!!!
-
So glad the hip has improved and you had that great night's sleep!
-
I always dry the bottom of my feet, always have done, but I take special care since I had that terrible ulcer on my toe. I don't use talc, nor body lotion even though I have plenty of lotion. The hip feels much better and I slept right through last night, I don't think I even moved! It is still sore though, but nowhere near as bad as it was when it first happened.
-
I do dry my feet and every night after my bath I rub lotion into the bottoms of my feet. If I do that they don't get all calloused, otherwise they do. I've probably done this now for maybe 10 years, it seems to work well. NOBODY sees the bottoms of your feet Moira, so you can just ignore them if you like.
-
(((((((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Something is out of place by the sound of it so I hope the doc. can sort it out for you tomorrow !
As a side track... why do you actually dry the bottom of your feet especially ? Why do you not just dry yourself then put your towel on the floor .. and your feet will dry ! ... Do your talc or use body cream ?
I do remember .. when I was younger !!!!!!!!!!!! HOW I did use to dry my feet and pamper them with special cream or foot stuff ! I used to put my foot up onto the toilet top to do it !!!!!!!!!! Nowadays unless I am feeling especially ...errrrr... fit .... I just ignore my feet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) That sounds SO BAD!! Maybe the doctor can do something to give you some relief!!
-
You must have jarred it somehow, or even slept wrongly on it, but I am glad it's better.
I hurt my hip last night, I haven't been able to lift my right leg up properly to dry my foot normally since I hurt it, nearly 2 weeks ago now. Last night, because my hip felt so much better, I thought I would lift my leg up and slightly twist a bit to dry the bottom of my foot....that was a HUGE mistake!!!! It felt like the hip joint came out and went back in, I cried out in pain and swore!!!!! It has been so sore and aching since and I am back to limping again. I didn't get a great deal of sleep last night either. Thank goodness I have a Drs appointment tomorrow morning for the results of my CTScan.
-
I don't think so Moira, but we did just recently talk about our 56 year old bed.

By the way, my hip doesn't hurt anymore.
-
Treat yourself to a new mattress Linda . You will be amazed at the fancy mattresses available nowadays !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All kinds and all sort of softness etc. YOU don't know what you are missing !!!!!
We have had a few new beds / mattresses and every new one is great .... but each new one is better than the last !!!!
Have we not talked about your old mattress before and did you not say you were getting a new one at one stage ?????
-
I don't even know but I do know the mattress is not new but it seems nice still. Probably a new one is in order though.
-
It could be you mattress, how long have you had it for?
-
It's not really bad, I can still walk for exercise okay, but I do notice it.
-
I hope it is your mattress but now and again I get hip twinges too IF I lay on one side too long in bed !!!!!
-
I didn't fall or bump my hip but I kind of think we maybe should get a new mattress, we haven't had one for a long time and it might be that.
-
Have you knocked your hip at all? If it continues, get it checked out! Some people are very fortunate that they don't get a lot of aches and pains, good genes
-
Oddly enough, my right hip has been sore in the last week or so and I have no idea why. It's not terrible but I'm aware that it isn't right. I haven't had a lot of aches and pains so I've been very lucky and who knows why?
-
Linda !!!!!! I was also thinking how you do not seem to suffer with aches and pains like Darien and I do from time to time !!!!! WHY not ????????????
I do not have many clothes really but I do have some that I never or rarely wear. Plus I do have old Tee shirts that I save for gardening or painting or cleaning up and they can go out in the bin :) I will do it tomorrow !
When you do lose weight then you do have to buy new clothes Darien !!!!!!!!!!! Well done if you have lost a bit of weight too :)
-
That sounds nice, new clothes are fun. For some reason I hardly ever buy anything new and I don't know why? It seems like I have a lot of clothes and don't really need any but it's nice to have a change. Maybe I'll go shopping one of these days.
-
I bought a new pair of winter PJ's, some jeans and two jumpers the other day as I am running low on both. I am trying not to buy too much as I want to lose weight, I have lost a little bit.
-
You are 9 years younger than me so you definitely are young even though you might not always feel like it. I kind of think I have fewer daily aches and pains than you and Darien have so I'm very lucky that way. Are you trying to get rid of some clothes before the move?
I assume that is your plan.
-
I agree Linda even though I am still young too ..
9 years younger than at the moment :)
I was walking round the shops today in Westgate and it felt like hard work !!!!!! I needed a trolley to help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK so I did buy a couple of tee shirts and a pair of pants for winter .... even tho I am still in shorts and tee shirts as it is still so warm here !!!! BUT I am about to go through my clothes and have a clear out .. tomorrow or the next day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I just turned 83 today Darien so I definitely think you are young at a mere 66! I just wish you felt better!
-
I want to start walking again too, the more you move, the better you will feel and of course losing weight is very important too. I know you two think I am young, but I certainly don't feel it!!!!!
-
Good idea then so give it a go ... a proper go this time. I have to say I was exactly the same with my physio. for my hip and once for my knee !~ IT did not seem to do THAT much good ! BUT My knee and my hip are not too bad nowadays as long as I do not overdo it by running up and down hills !!!!!!!!!!
((((((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
-
Good idea, think about that trip as you do your PT! (((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))
-
Yes I would think so, all I know is as my osteoarthritis appears to be getting worse, I have to try and do something and physiotherapy has been recommended to me by the Dr in Canberra. I did try it before a few years ago, but it was only to shut everyone up and I didn't really give it a proper go. This time I will as I have a goal in mind, my trip to the UK
-
Does physio help ?
-
It is getting harder to put shoes and socks on now, I need physiotherapy to limber up my bones!!!!
-
...especially when you cannot get down so low !!!!!!!!!!!! That is why I wear my flip flops for as long as I can until it gets too cold and I need socks and shoes !~
-
OIC what you mean now, yes the boot type can be harder to get on.
-
I found it hard to pull them onto my feet ! The slippers just slip on :)
-
How odd that you had trouble with Ugg boots, I love my slippers, that are so nice and warm in the winter.
-
Hahaha
((((((((((((Linda))))))))))))))))
I like your Ugg slippers Darien and I do wear similar in Winter but they are not UGG :) I did try Ugg Boots in Aus. but I found it too hard to get them on my feet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Nope, I can't do ballet in my slippers.
Not that I've ever tried!!
-
In the winter I wear Ugg slippers, so warm and comfy
https://theuggshop.com.au/collections/women-ugg-slippers-moccasins/products/everau-muffin-slipper
I like your winter shoes Linda, similar to what I wear sometimes. I used to wear the ballerina type shoes, but I can't wear them anymore.
-
That is like an English Ballet shoe :) I could not walk well wearing such a flat shoe with no inside instep support for my fallen arches.

Oh I see it IS called a ' Ballerina' Slipper !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you do ballet when wearing them ????????
-
Right, a canvas shoe. In the winter I would wear a slipper like in your picture but in the warm weather I wear something like this.
https://tinyurl.com/ycxa6dr6
-
That is a casual shoe, a canvas shoe ! I too have a pair in Gray ! They also have special insoles for my dropped arches !!! Very comfy too when it is not raining :0 I wear flip flops or slippers in the house or even my Trainers as long as they are not dirty !!!
MY slippers are like these :
https://tinyurl.com/3zwmsfr6 ................. and I only wear them when it gets cold in Winter :)
-
I don't think it was about my toenail. Probably because I walked every day I just put on my athletic shoes and went with those. I never wear shoes in the house, I just wear my bedroom slippers all day and if I go out I slip on some other shoes.
Something like this pair.
https://tinyurl.com/mum5am45
-
I am sure you missing toe nail toe can not look any funnier than Darien's crossed over toe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do have a third pair of flipflops so I will test them out and if no good I will get some new ones !
-
Well, NEVER might not be right, but if I ever did, I don't remember doing it. Maybe I did????? Maybe after I had that toenail removed I stopped wearing them IF I ever wore them.
-
Definitely time for a new pair as the ones you are wearing sound dangerous!!!
-
Flipflops are easy for the lazy people..... but since I broke my good ones last week I have been wearing an older but similar pair but the front toe bit of the left one keeps catching and .. hard to explain but the front toe but goes / flips under and I trip up ! Time for a new pair methinks :)
I cannot believe Linda has never worn flipflops !
-
I bought a pair of sandals the other day and a new pair of walking shoes, both are very comfortable to walk in, but as you say Moira, flipflops are so much easier to just slip on.
-
I've never worn flip flops and I don't know why, plenty of people do. I remember buying a pair one time but I never wore them.
-
IN my youth when hitch hiking in Europe etc I always wore flipflops ... I have worn them all my life in Summers ! I do have proper open toed sandals for summer too BUT flip flops are soooooooooo easy! MY trainers also have insoles and they are so comfy and so much better for walking. I had forgotten!!
-
Wearing flip-flops/thongs are really not good for your feet, I know that, but still wear them in the summer as trainers are so hot to wear. When I start to wear my trainers with the orthotic support in them, I too find I can walk further and with much less pain!!!!!
-
Well, this is great news Moira. I suppose it would be better if you wear flip flops less and your sneakers more. It's easy though to just slip on the flip flops but if you can walk better, that's worth a lot!!

-
Today it was wet and windy and I needed to go to the Recycle Centre to dump some stuff so I had to my wear proper covered in shoes .. ( flip flops are not allowed at the dump ) !!! I have today noticed that I can walk better .... I have been wearing flip flops for the last ... 5/6 months ??? No foot support really even IF they are POSH flip flops ! BUT today I can walk properly in shoes ... well in my lace up Sneakers/Trainers !!!!! I feel 10 years younger as I can walk better !

OK I am off to bed now
