Conjunctivitis

I woke up yesterday morning with a puffy red eye and it was all yucky, it's all swollen this morning, red and yucky still. I have absobloodylutely no idea how I got it or why, but I will get Robert to take me to the chemist when he gets home and I'll get some drops for it.

I don't think we have over the counter eye drops for an eye infection.  If I had one I would need to go to the doctor for a prescription.  GOOD LUCK DARIEN, hope it clears up soon. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Darien)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

THats sounds horrible Darien and maybe it IS conjunctivirus or maybe you got bitten by something ..... a mossie or something ? I hope the chemist can advise you and maybe give you some drops or something.
WE CAN get eye drops over the counter here I am sure. Nothing containing very MEDICAL stuff but just helpful and soothing for an eye infection !

The chemist gave me some eye ointment to use 4 times a day and if it doesn't start to clear up, then to see a Dr. My eye doesn't look quite so red this morning, but still a bit puffy. It's not a bite but conjunctivitis, a very common eye problem caused by a virus usually. Maybe you know it as red eye Linda?

When I have "pink eye" (that's what I call it) I get an antibiotic ointment from the eye doctor.  I don't think we have anything over the counter that would cure an eye infection.  I have not had an eye infection for 20 years, not since I have been going to the eye specialist in Iowa City.
She prescribed a daily antibiotic, doxycycline, that I have taken daily for all these years and I've not had one infection.  It's an ab you can take for an extended period of time, very different from the others.
I hope your eye clears right up but if not, I'm sure you will go to see your doctor.

Lucky for me, touch wood....... I do not get eye infections or very rarely and I cannot remember the last time..... apart from a red bit at the inner edge of my eye last week,,,, I think I must have poked it !
I do remember you telling us about Doxycycline Linda and how you have taken it for many years ! I would imagine it works for other infections also ??? Not a bad idea actualleh

Doxycycline is also used to treat acne.  Mary's husband Burt took Doxycycline for that reason.
It's good you never have an eye infection Moira.

Garry's Mum Anne is on Doxycycline to help prevent any lung infections as she has Broncheictasis. I have it too, but only in small areas of my upper lobes in the lungs.

My eye is certainly clearing up, it's nowhere near as red, but it's still a bit puffy and I have an appointment with my Dr this afternoon, so I will get him to look at it.

I didn't know it was used to prevent lung infections, I suppose for people susceptible to such infections.  So you don't need to take any medication for your Bronchiectasis since it's not widespread.  That's good, but could it get worse?    That's a disease I have never heard of until this very minute.  ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I wondered if I Had been prescribe it for my pneumonia but I cannot see it on my medical records !

Even though it is often used for lung infections, it seems to be more often used for treatment where long acting abs are needed.

No doubt it will get worse as I age, but I am hoping it won't

Today I woke up and I could hardly speak as my voice was so grunty as if I had maybe been snoring through the night !!! It took ages to clear and it is still a bit growly but I have no sore throat at all !  Anyway I am not a snorer !!

I got my blood report back from last week  and all good from what I can see !   
The Abs I was given for the pneumonia were only for short term use  :)

Sure hope you aren't having some new problem, you have had enough with the pneumonia.  Maybe it's still a lingering thing from the pneumonia.  Glad you don't have a sore throat.

All good today thank you  SO maybe I HAD been snoring   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the blood results on the computer on the Manage MY Health site they use and they all read OK but no actual doctor results .....  or remarks so I suppose it is all good !
