I forgot to tell you .......  when Annie and Richie were here last week they went to the local, small supermarket here in Waverley and bought a couple of bottles of wine and some lollies . When Annie went to pay,. she got asked for ID ..... If you look under 25 and you buy wine you have to supply ID !    She chuckled and said she was 41 but the woman on the till insisted she needed ID. So Annie produced her Aussie drivers licence.   Aussie licence was Not acceptable said the woman, does she have a passport.   Of course Annie said her passport was at Bonnie and Dan's house where they were staying...... Ahh said the shop woman Dan and Bonnie Casey ..... Yes said Annie, I am Dan's younger sister aged 41 here for their Anniversary !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH said the woman ......... OK all is good

So did Annie look under 25 OR did the woman in the shop want to know who this unknown woman really was ??
Annie says it was because she looks under 25. Meanwhile in the background Richie was wetting himself laughing !!!!!!!!!!!!
Small town ... nothing is secret or private !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, I bet Annie was very chuffed at being asked to show her ID, I am surprised her Aussie license wasn't accepted though!!!!! Annie will dine off that tale for many years to come
Is the legal age for drinking 25 in NZ? I don't believe I ever knew that!!!!! Actually I just looked it up and it's the same there as here, 18 is the legal age for drinking, so why did the woman need proof? Just a bloody sticky beak I think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course the legal drinking age is 18 here but I believe if the person looks under 25 they can still ask for age proof.    I too think the woman was a sticky beak but I don't know who it was.
I went in for milk today and the woman who delivers special mail was on the counter .. she knows me .... so I was telling her and she was laughing at the story and also said whoever was asking for age proof probably wanted to know who Annie was .... !  A new face and all that !
NO idea why her Aussie licence was not acceptable ! I cannot remember, do they have your DOB on them ?

The people who work in the little supermarket here are all nice females as far as I can tell and If I find out which woman was asking Annie for ID, then I will ask why.    I also do know the woman I was talking to who works for the mail service some days and delivers the mail packages to the houses .... she likes to chat so maybe SHE will find out !     I do KNOW her name and cannot remember it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Darien and If the Aussie driver licence has the DOB then there was no reason for the shop woman to not accept it as ID then ! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !

Exactly Darien. I used to say that about Amble where John and the kids were born then similar about Marton and in Helensville to a certain extent but even more here in Waverley as it is smaller still !!!!!

Mum used to say the same about living on the RAF stations !!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I like the fantasy of living in a small village/town, I couldn't stand the inconvenience of not having my privacy or the medical help. I find the Central Coast is getting way too big these days, almost as bad as Sydney!!!!!!!!!!

I quite like the little rural places and have never been a city lover ever.  I have rarely lived in a big city ... Leeds when I was a little kid and Dunedin and Fremantle .....  but they were not BIG cities anyway   I do prefer rural towns except of course for the lack of doctors or medical practices !!! I do read also that NZ is short of rural doctors and medical centres !!!!!!!!!!! AS long as I can drive of course !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are so lucky to have the doctors we have here.  Maybe it's different in big cities but here in Waterloo we do just fine.  I hope it stays that way.  When you go to Iowa City or Mayo it can take a while to get in but not too bad really.
