Anne has been trying to get out, but sadly she will have to wait a bit longer. The Rural Fire people rang Garry back today to tell him at this time it is still unsafe. Anne wanted to go out and see where her house was today, but it wasn't safe today due to storms, but she will go out tomorrow. I don't know if I told you, but this house was also her mothers house, so many years of things are now lost forever :(
I don't know what will happen with Anne and I don't think anyone has thought that far ahead at the moment.

How devastating to lose all your memories as well as all your belonging (((((((((((( Anne ))))))))))))))
 I agree about the stupid road and houses theory but I thought I would air it to see what you thought :) 
I am sure that some of the bushland will recover as some of it must have been burned before.  Its the poor animals who may not recover and of course the poor people who have died in the fires :(

So that house had been her mother's house and probably where she grew up and now the memories are burned to the ground.  Of course, those memories will stay in her heart forever but it's not quite the same and especially since she was living there NOW.  Do you know how long she had had her cats?  I don't suppose they know what she will do now.  Maybe she wouldn't even want to come there and live near Garry.  Only time will tell.

Anne was able to get out and see what is left of her house today, she is devastated :( The cats were quite wild and she had had them for about 4 years now, that's all I know at the moment.

I see Kylie put up a FB post showing Anne's home before it burned down. I love the look of it, so old and homely.  Such a shame ((((((Anne)))))))

You mean Ann saw the cats when she was there and they were wild NOW or do you mean they were wild before the fires?  I had thought the cats perished in the fire.
I am sure the poor woman was devastated, I can't even imagine seeing my house  burned to the ground.

I cannot imagine my house being burned down either and thinking of all your belonging going up in flames inside would be awful.

Yes the cats were wild before the fires which is why she couldn't get them, only one was a house cat, but with all the commotion and Anne being hurried out of the house she didn't get a chance to garb him. They are all sadly gone now :(  It was a lovely old home and a gorgeous old fire place that Anne still used, I liked it when I went down there once.

I see about the cats and their tragic end, very sad for Ann, she must feel just terrible about all of it.  I didn't realize you had been to her house.

Yes, it was nearly 10 years ago we went down to celebrate her 70th Birthday that the family gave her. It's a very pretty spot and famous in Australia known for a poem of an Australian poet Banjo Patterson, The Man From Snowy River. I'll see if I can find it for you.

That is interesting. I love Banjo Patterson and have a book of his.... in the container !!!!  Madeleine learned to ride in Marton on a Timor Pony. Tiny little thing but rugged.

That is one long poem, very nice and especially if you love horses you do Darien.
I would come but I don't think a horse festival is really my cup of tea.
