Three Friends

I received a phone call from Kylie on Tuesday afternoon to tell me she had spent the day up at the hospital, she got Garry to drop her off as she had been up all night with diarrhoea and dreadful pains in her tummy, she said it felt like food poisoning (sounds like Joe, doesn't it?). They did an Xray and ultra sound and they think it is Diverticulitis, They had to send her home as they can only admit emergency cases at the moment. They would normally have admitted her with follow up CTscan and IV fluids. As it is, they gave her a referral for a scan which she has done on Monday and she is on a low fibre liquid diet until then and a course of AB's. I went over to see her yesterday and she looked pale, but ok. Isn't it amazing how they still need Mummy when they are ill.

An inflammation or infection in one or more small pouches in the digestive tract.
Diverticulitis is more common after the age of 40.
Symptoms include abdominal pain, fever, nausea and a change in bowel habits.
Treatment can include rest, a liquid or low-fibre diet and antibiotics. Severe cases may need hospital care and surgery. Doctors may recommend a high-fibre diet after recovery to prevent future episodes.

Goodness YES mothers are needed when the child is in pain !!!!!!!!!!!!(((((((((((((((((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) They may not cry "I want my Mummy" but..but.. but !

I do recall I got diagnosed with Diverticulitis many years ago in Dunedin. John took me to Emergency in the early hours of the morning as I was in pain in my tummy and down below.  I was put on Abs. I think and nothing ever eventuated.  .....   Not till I got a similar pain in Perth ( a year or so later) and ended up having my appendix out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a very painful condition, Mum had it as well. The pain is easing a bit for her, so that's good at least. I'll pop over there today and see how she is. Garry is making her jellies and he has bought some hydrolite drinks to replace the minerals etc she has lost.

I do think in my case it was my appendix originally but I was told Diverticulitis but after I had my appendix out a year or so later  I have had no more problems .... touch wood ! Yes I do now also remember NO seedy stuff or things like that !!!! I had forgotten !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " TOO late", she cried !

I too noticed the Hopsital spelling and had a chuckle. Hopsical was what my kids used to say

So funny, your kids and how they said hospital.  I don't remember what my kids said, but I remember Emma said hostible. 

I guess I should look at Kylie's FB page and see what's going on.

She has the scan done today, but probably won't know the results for a few days.
