Australian and New Zealand laws are even more strict that yours Linda, so I am sure they must be ok.

I have never heard anything against it, but then I don't read the news a lot either. My mum used to use Mylanta.

I do remember reading this a while ago too but they are still being sold here. I take Pantoprazole 40mg  now and they do seem to be helping as I have not had bad burps and acid reflux recently. I looked at what they contain:  The other ingredients are mannitol, crospovidone (type B), anhydrous sodium carbonate, sorbitol (E420), calcium stearate in the tablet core and hypromellose, povidone (K25), titanium dioxide (E171), yellow iron oxide (E172), propylene glycol, methacrylic acid - ethyl acrylate copolymer, sodium laurilsulfate, polysorbate 80, macrogol 6000 and talc in the film-coating.
Hahaha Need to be a scientist at least to understand all this lot !

My Mum always used Rennies for years and years. She always had some handy !

I was just looking it up and seeing if we sold it under another name, but apparently Zantac has been taken from our shelves too, in September 2019.

Maybe your government is slow to issue this warning and remove the drug from the shelves?  I'm not surprised you don't see it anymore Darien.  It's good you are doing better Moira but not sure you should be taking this drug.  What are Rennies?

I especially looked today in Countdown and they are still on the shelves for sale. ! I don't have any now, I have Quickeze.
Rennies are similar but more old fashioned !  " Rennie® Peppermint tablets contain two naturally-occurring antacids called calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate which neutralise excess stomach acid by turning it into water & other natural substances. Calcium carbonate acts directly in the oesophagus, as well as the stomach, and both antacids are then eliminated by your body"
I see John brought some Rennies back from Australia so maybe he could not find Zantac.
I will ask next time I am in Countdown. I think Countdown is a subsidy of Woolworths.  Have you looked in Woolies Darien ?

No I haven't actually looked for them myself, but did a quick search. You can get plenty of other stuff over the counter though, Gaviscon, Mylanta, Quickeze etc.
