Robert is having to stop working again for a while as the radiation treatment is knocking him about too much. He has diarrhoea quite bad, his pee burns as it passes and terrible fatigue. He looks so very worn out. He doesn't want to have to do it, but I reminded him it will only be a temporary situation and of course at the moment work is very busy!! He is over halfway through the treatments and he has a break from it for 3 days while we are away. I am hoping the break away will help rejuvenate him.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry he is having such problems, that's too bad.  I wasn't working so I don't know if I could have or not.  I can't honestly say that I was terribly fatigued but maybe I was and if I had needed to go to work, maybe I couldn't have, I just don't know.  I was living away from home in a hotel, not cooking or cleaning so I could rest whenever I liked.  We came home on weekends and I don't remember a time that I couldn't do something because of the treatments.  With chemo, I did have days where I just had to lay on the sofa but not radiation.  Isn't there anything they could give him for the burning pee?  I had prescription pills for diarrhea and they did help.  I hope Robert can enjoy your time away.  Traveling in a car can be bad when you have diarrhea, if he's like me when he has to GO it's RIGHT NOW!  Does Robert have treatments 7 days a week?  I had them 5 days a week and every weekend off.

Poor ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Robert)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))   He needs to take a break NOW  ! Is he actually going into work or just working from home still ? John says he cannot remember much about his radiation after the prostatectomy and neither can I !!!

Maybe John didn't have pee issues and diarrhea.  I will never forget the diarrhea, that was a constant concern.  I always wondered, "will I be near enough a bathroom to make it?"     ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Robert))))))))))))))))))))))))))))  I hope your little trip will be just what you both need!!

Robert's treatments are 5 days a week, like yours Linda. Yes he goes into work every morning and reties blades etc, thankfully he doesn't need to drive to Sydney anymore as Jake does all the deliveries and pickups. The diarrhoea was only a one of apparently, he told me yesterday, just for that one day, but I bought some Imodium in case it happens again. He has Ural for his burning pee and that is helping, the Dr told him to get that, is I got some for him. As for the fatigue, very little I can do about that, but encourage him to rest, which he hates!!!!! The hot and humid weather doesn't help much either

I thought about Robert today as I sat there in the radiation department of Mayo where my doctor is located.  I hope his diarrhea won't be as big a problem as mine was.  I did already have a problem and had since 1993 when I had my gall bladder removed so maybe Robert won't have problems.  The nurse asked me today if I took Imodium, they seem to think it's very good.  Whenever we go out to eat I try to remember to take a couple before I go to the restaurant, the doctor says that's fine.

Hopefully Robert will try and relax more. John did remember taking Imodium a few times for his burning pee. I remember that too ! I can picture him going to the loo when we still lived in the rental in Claremont after his op. and how he was up and down to the loo all night !
It has been more warm here but more HUMID today and my hair has been dripping when I did a bit of gardening ! I gave up and had to come inside and put on the air con !
Roll  on Winter !  Hahaha I think I said that last year too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think John took Imodium for his burning pee, it's a medication for diarrhea but he might have had need of Imodium sometimes for that problem too.  I don't know what you would take for burning pee.  Larry has had a prescription medication for that each time he has had bladder surgery, otherwise he would have had burning pee.  I know there is such a drug but not sure Robert could take it for a long period of time.  Larry only took it for a few days.

Linda is right, Imodium is only used for the relief of diarrhoea. Robert takes Ural, an OTC medication used for UTI's. Robert said it seems to help him, he only wished he didn't have to get up so much through the night to pee. That won't be for ever though. He only has 6 more treatments to go before he is finished and he is so happy about that   When he sees his Oncologist Specialist again, on his last day of treatment, they will give him some referrals to have his PSA blood tests done, I think it's three, just before he goes to see her again in May. I don't know how long that goes on for, he will know more when he sees her.

It's wonderful that Robert is near the end of his treatments, by and large he has done really well I would say!

OH I got it wrong then,   it was not Imodium but it was something prescribed for his burning pee.  I also think the meds. were only prescribed for a short time too !  .. methinks he does not want to remember if I ask  !  BUT I remember him up and down all night !  No problem since... I do have to say !!
John did also have to have PSA tests for a time after the prostatectomy.

Yes, he has done well and it's all nearly over for him. I can't remember if I told you, but Robert also had an appointment with the Plastic Surgeon on Tuesday last, he no longer needs to see them again as it has all healed over. So last year can now be forgotten

Yes he can walk normally and even wear shoes now, however he is not exactly pain free. Where the nerve in his heel was severed and he had the skin of his heel hanging, causes a lot of discomfort for him. This is the same ankle he smashed a couple of years ago now when he fell off his ute, so he has dreadful arthritis pain in that ankle. I have ordered him some good support wraps for his heel and ankle and hopefully when they come they will help.
