School Awards.

Jack had his end of year Prize Giving and today he got the Class Art Award :)  He was chuffed.
 I was at the library this afternoon and I spied Cash's Christmas colouring in picture and Greta's attempt... in the library window.  It said Cash won 1st in the Pre school entrants and Greta was 3rd. Hahaha I wonder how many entrants Pre School they had :) :)
Anyway we still have not got any prizes but apparently the Rotary woman will take them to the library tomorrow !

GOOD JOB JACK!!!!  I'm glad he got an art award too, it will soften the blow of him not getting the coloring prizes that Greta and Cash got.    Greta wouldn't even care that she got 3rd and not 1st, she will just be happy with a prize.  I imagine there were more preschoolers who entered than you might think.

I picked up the prizes today. Cash got a board game and it is easy plus a set of cards ..Pairs or Donkey plus a $5 shop Paper Plus voucher and a day pass for the local hot / swimming pools !! He did very well and Greta got a blow up ball and a pool day pass also. True, Greta was not bothered in the least :) :)  Jack spent most of today here as he was off but the other two were at Kindy ! Couldn't get rid of him !

Cash did well with the prizes I am sure he will appreciate them too. Greta is a bit too young to bother with that type of thing I would imaging.
I'm sure you didn't try too hard to get rid of Jack

My goodness, Cash got a lot of stuff.  He must have been very happy and Greta too.
They will want to do it again next year. Wasn't it kind of strange that Jack was off school and Cash and Greta had to go?  I guess they aren't in regular school yet so that's no doubt why.  Does Jack spend any time with John?

I haven't seen Greta today but I have heard her screaming !!!  Kindergarten did not finish till the end of Friday while Jack's Primary school finished lunch time Thursday. The Secondary school finished last week ! Remember it is the end of the year here. Not just Christmas Holidays like your schools.  Cash was thrilled to win because it is normally Jack who gets prizes or certificates ! We had to play the board game and Cash won it … fair and square..... much to Jack's disgust !!!  Grandad was winning but he lost in the end much to Jack's glee !!!! Jack is a bit cagey with John as he does not get away with much !!! :) *//

Oh, it's the end of your school year, no I didn't think of that.  So how long do the kids have off now?  Cash would have been happy to have gotten the prizes and to have won the game too.   At least Jack beat Grandad!    You seem to mention Greta wailing or screaming quite often, were the boys like that at her age or is this more a "Greta thing"?

School starts again February 2nd or thereabouts    !!!  Long holidays ahead. Cash had a few tantrums when he was younger and he still whines now a bit... but none of the boys could squeal or scream  like Greta !!!
Dan and Bonnie went Christmas shopping today,  a couple of hours they said.... 3 1/2 hours later they got back !  The kids were OK thankfully but Greta did get tired and decided to have a tantrum when she could not make the toy car work .... I just ignored her and she scowled at me for ages :)  Jack made a Bird garden  with logs, plants and wood and places for the birds to hide or have a rest. Then he scattered crumbs of bread, crackers and some of John's porridge oats... around the area .  We now have loads of sparrows and various other birds looking for food !

It's about the same for Summer Holidays here too, but they go back at the end of January, after the Australia day celebrations which are on the 26th January.
I remember looking after the kids when the girls went Christmas shopping, it seemed to take them for ever!!!!
Tell Jack that you can buy wild bird seed in the shops now and that is better for the birds too He is a very clever and kind boy.

So Emma and the 3 little kids all have similar time off now.  My Emma goes back to school January 2nd so she has about 2 weeks.   Emma, Pam and Malcolm came over this afternoon and we made Christmas sugar cookies.  It was a fun afternoon.
Jack had fun making the food for the birds and now they will be coming back looking for more goodies.

Ah good idea Darien and I will get some wild bird seed for the birds. In fact I will wrap it up and say it came from Santa :)   The sparrows here seem to think we are a food store for them and they even have John feeding them porridge oats.

It won't harm the birds to be fed, but they can and will take advantage of it all I don't feed the birds here, but I always make sure I have water outside for them and I talk to the magpies

Hahaha the magpies probably do answer back as they are cheeky birds  :)  John talks to them too and the sparrows and the dogs.  I did get some wild bird seed packets today and wrapped them up for Cash and Jack from Santa  :) :) I got one for John too :)
