Time to pack up !
« on: March 11, 2022, 09:48:32 pm »
I put up a couple of photos of the container being moved from the corner of Dan's shed to a more accessible spot .......  by his front door !    NOT My idea :)
Anyway I went inside as I cannot remember what we have in there ..... some of Madeleine's paintings still wrapped up :(  Plus Yar's old China Cabinet.... it will fit perfectly in Dan's new house .. along with some of MY Antiques for display !!!! I also found a big plastic box and I managed to get it into the car boot and brought it up here.

The box contained lots of my ' stuff ' ....  material pieces and some of my Old antique lace table cloths and chair covers plus some crochet covers ...  and an old Northumberland Quilt ! Once upon a time they were worth a lot of money as they are hand stitched but I cannot find any info now !!!!!!! SO I looked into all the stuff and RE packed it hahahahaha  plus I put in some of my pottery pigs and my collection pieces in among the soft materials ! Safely packed and ready to move.    I AM NOT a Hoarder !  John is the Hoarder !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it seems to be official now, you have packed some things so you ARE moving!    Those paintings of Madeleine's are the most valuable and Yar's China cabinet.  Is John thinking of how he might be able to downsize?

I'll have a look at the photos when I am finished here. No, you are NOT a hoarder, everything you have means something precious to you and no doubt worth some money. Where did these valuables come from? Were they Yars?

It's all real now and time to pack up and start a new chapter of your life

Some of my treasures belonged to Mum and some to Yar and some are my own from Op shops and garage sales :)  The crochet and lace cloths were Mum's as was the Northumbrian quilt. I wrapped some of my pigs and a few small treasures into the crochet and covers, double value now in the container  :0
Some of Madeleine's paintings have been wrapped up since we left Perth. Such a waste really :(

IS John thinking he can downsize ????????? BWahahahahaha He gave lots of his stuff tools, car stuff, law books etc etc to Matt when we left Perth and now Annie s getting rid if it all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He has a new collection of tools and stuff here in his shed and out the back in the porch !! !!! PLUS 2 big plastic containers full of Law papers and books in the sea container !!!!!

Oh, John was rid of stuff and now he has new STUFF.  He sounds like Joe though I do think Joe has finally realized he has too much STUFF.
I'm glad you have those very special things in the container.  Will you display some of Madeleine's paintings in your new home?  You say "such a waste" in regard to the paintings.  Do you mean because they aren't displayed now?  She was such a wonderful artist, so much talent and such a beautiful girl too.

Those treasures are well worth keeping, I have some of my Mum's doilies etc as well, so we will continue to 'hoard' them. Would it be terribly expensive to have Madeleine's beautiful artwork framed? That way you could hang some up, unless that would hurt you too much to do so

I have finally got through to Robert not to hoard things, so there is still hope yet Moira

I hadn't thought about the cost to have Madeleine's pictures framed but it would be so worth it.  I have a picture that Tim had hanging in his living room and now it hangs in my TV room.  I was with him the day he bought it and I love seeing it.  Pam has another picture he had hanging in his house.  Of course he didn't paint these pictures but he did have them and oh yes, Tom also has one  hanging in his house and I see it when we Zoom with them.

Lots of Madeleine's paintings are framed when she had exhibitions and they have been hung up in Blu Peter shop in Perth or the odd gallery but one needs the proper place to hang them...  Not suited in this granny flat although I do have one on the wall in Matt's room :)  Bonnie has one in her lounge and a couple in the hall way. Annie also has 2/3 on her walls. :)  Some of them are just NOT suitable for some walls.. but when we move South the house is BIG and has high ceilings so maybe more can be hung there !   Lots of the paintings are very Modern and just do not look right on some walls !!!  I wanted to have a show here, got offered to have one ( but I got shouted down)  not because I think they should be sold for the money but for some art lovers to get them and love them and hang them !   Instead of them being stuck in the container ! Watch this space. Madeleine may well be remembered as a local artist in Wanganui !!
I do have a couple of Madeleine's photos of Amble framed and on the wall here, love them as they remind John of home :)
What sort of pictures did Tim have Linda ? Do some photos, it is about time you learned how to do that for us ......... or ask Pam to do some :)

Why did you get shouted down about doing a show of Madeleine's wonderful art work? If they are just sitting in the container, then surely it is better to have them on show in someones home or gallery where they are loved and appreciated!!!!! Maybe it was too soon? Try again and remind them that that is what your Madeleine would have wanted as she was was always showing her beautiful artwork

Who shouted you down Moira, your family?  I think it would be wonderful to have Madeleine's art displayed out in the world, that would be wonderful and I hope you can get that accomplished.   The very modern paintings wouldn't go with every decor but in the right place they would be great.
The picture we have of Tim's is of The Brooklyn Bridge, I don't remember what Pam has but I know it's hanging in her hallway and Tom has a picture of a sailboat on the sea.

The show here was also for Art for Sale but the art works did not need to be sold just displayed but Dan and John said NO !   It was about a year or so ago ! I would happily have sold some of them also and given the money to some up and coming young artist who may need funds  ! But NO,  not a chance ! Maybe it might happen in Wanganui where Madeleine went to secondary school and people may remember her name ! Or Even New Plymouth .. in Taranaki where she has a couple of old school friends !!! They are doing no good sitting wrapped up in the container !

Were Tim's favourite pictures photographs or paintings ?   (((((((((((((((Tim))))))))))))))))))

Mine is a photograph and I think Pam's is too but Tom's is a painting.  None of them are priceless art works but they mean a lot to us.
For sure Madeleine's paintings should be out of storage and shown somewhere even if it's just in your homes.  As you say, some wouldn't work in your homes but they could be displayed in an art gallery.  I wonder why John and Dan feel the way they do about them, I don't suppose they have said.

It seems such a shame that her art work is just sitting in a container, I hope they are still in good condition? Perhaps this time they might be feeling more open to having them put on display and I love the idea of the money going to help some struggling artists and I am sure Madeleine would have approved too

I am sure Tom's pictures mean more than the world to you all

Of course you love Tim's pictures and they are lovely memories (((((((((((((((((((((Linda)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I love the photos of Amble on my wall here ..... the ones that Madeleine took when she went to visit Ange and Frankie, good memories.  But not all of Madeleine's paintings would GO on my walls !!!!! Some yes but I would be quite happy to sell the others and donate BUT I will have to convince Dan and John.  Dan says he will put them on HIS walls and maybe in his new BIG house in Waverley they will work !  Watch this space and if they do not work........ I will do something about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The art work still in the container all look as if they are fine as they are still well wrapped up .... since the trip from Perth !   I went to look in the container yesterday and I spied one of MY pictures.  Not MY painting but a  Caricature picture I ordered in Perth showing John as a nurse but it was a joke picture for is 60th !!! I had forgotten all about it !    I WILL have that on my wall ... eventually
