Celebration

We are going out for tea tonight at our favourite Italian restaurant to celebrate Robert's final day of radiation treatment, Robert says it calls for a celebration. After today he has to have several PSA blood tests done over a period of time and he sees his Oncologist in a few months time for the results.

I truly can say "I know how you feel", it's a great thing to have behind you and now you can move on to better days.  I'm so glad that Robert didn't have too many terrible side effects!!

He does look well and I think it has more to do with finally finishing the treatments than anything else :) The fatigue has been knocking him about as well as the diarrhoea and having to pee so often and urgently. Of course these symptoms won't just suddenly disappear, it will be a month or so before he feels completely better again.

It's only in the last month that the diarrhea thing has improved with me but I already had that problem before I ever had chemo and radiation.  I hope all of Robert's problems improve in a month.  (((((((((((((((Robert))))))))))))))  There is great relief in knowing your treatments are OVER!!

I hope the relief of the end of radiation and treatment will help Robert get back to normal and into a more positive frame of mind (((((((((((((((((((((((Robert)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Make sure he does not start to do to much work all at once  .. make him get back to normal slowly !

The Oncologist assured him that he should be feeling back to normal in a month or so. I am on his back constantly to make sure he doesn't do too much and I know Rab watches him at work. If Robert looks tired, Rab sends him home
I was going to book him in for his booster shot, but it was recommended that he waits a month before having it done.

I don't know how long it took me to get back to normal after radiation, but I'd had the 18 weeks of chemo before radiation so I had to recover from that too.  I know the diarrhea problem lastrf well over a year for me and I still have it now and then but nothing like before.
I hope Robert bounces back quickly!!

(((((((((((((((((Linda)))))))))))))) Is your occasional diarhoea still from the cancer treatment or is it permanent now from what you eat  maybe ?  You did travel a hard road Linda !

Good of Rab to keep his eye on Robert and I hope Robert does go home and rest when he is told ! (((((((((((((((Robert))))))))))))))

It would have taken you a lot longer ((((((((((Linda)))))))))) to recover as you say, you also had all those chemo treatments. I am so glad it's over for both you and Robert, long may it last

Actually, the diarrhea started after my gall bladder surgery in 1993 and it got way worse with the treatments.  I would say NOW it's back to how it was before the treatments.  I'm sure I'll always have the problem to some degree.

Gosh yes that gall bladder surgery would not have helped. I am the same, no gall bladder !! I had forgotten that !!!!!  BUT I do not have much diarhoea problems normally ... as long as I do not over indulge ! ((((((((((Linda)))))))))))))))

Everyone I know who has had their gall bladder removed, will suffer bouts of diarrhoea. Thankfully I still have mine.

Somehow it seems that gall bladder removal causes diarrhea.  You are lucky Moira that it doesn't bothered you and I don't think it bothers Mary either.  I never heard her mention having diarrhea and she had her gall bladder out a few years ago.

Until you mentioned it  I had forgotten that I had mine removed in Perth !  It brought back memories of sitting waiting in the Emergency, Annie had taken me in  .. and after waiting for some time ..  she said loudly..."  MY mother needs to be seen " !!!! ( I taught her well ! )   I was in pain and we DID have Insurance so I was then rushed in to get it fixed. If I remember it was done on Mother's Day ! Or maybe it was Valentine's Day but I have a photo of me in the ward after the op. ! I will find it ~!
I do not really suffer diarhoea ... normally.
