I wonder how far she will get in convincing Martin to retire.   I can't remember how old Martin is, don't even know if you ever have told us but I wasn't thinking he would be retirement age.  I guess she thinks he has enough money to live for years in the way they would want to live.  Would they move somewhere around you?

I think Martin is 50 ( Shiree is nearly 44) and you are correct in saying he will have enough money to retire now !!! Shiree and Martin have the $2million house in Queenstown.. Ski area in the South Island and she also has a normal house $1million which she rents out plus the wee house in Waiheki Island.. the one we borrowed for nothing :) :)   They could most likely retire right now but then what would Martin do with his time ????? Youngish man who knows nothing except banking ?

I doubt very much if she could convince him to retire, if he is dedicated to his job, it just won't happen. Unless he will do so for her, but will that really work out? I doubt it :(

I doubt it too Darien. He is very involved in his job so I cannot see him leaving it all and going to New Zealand !

50 would be very young to retire and especially if you enjoy your work but there must be banking opportunities somewhere in New Zealand.  If they aren't getting along that well then probably Shiree won't get very far convincing him to move on.  I wonder how much rent she gets for the million dollar house.

I never thought to ask Shiree how much rent she gets from the Queenstown house  but I do know that some men who work for the company Dan works for are renting her Waiheki  Island 2 bedroomed house as they are doing some job on the Island and rentals are hard to find so Dan negotiated a deal with Shiree and the company pay NZ $650 per week !!!! ( US $420 PER WEEK.)   That is a lot of money for a small house but it is furnished.

I too doubt that Martin will retire and he will not get anywhere near the salary he commands nowadays in HK. Certainly not in NZ!

I'll bet Shiree's Waiheki house is very nice so those guys probably got a good deal.

The Waiheke house is small and not post but still comfortable.

Ange and I have decided we may not go all the way to Russell for a trip, she thinks maybe a day trip to Waiheke will be enough. I did look for overnight accommodation on Waiheke but there is nothing available as it is still school  holidays …  well there is one very expensive place … Not my style :) !!

What a shame Shiree's place is already occupied :( Enjoy your time together no matter where you decide to go.

Would just you and Ange go or would John tag along?  I hope you have a great time no matter what you do.

John is not sure if he will come or not. Dan etc all go camping next Tuesday 28th and although the neighbour ( Liam the policeman ) will feed the animals its a bit of an ask really. I don't think John is bothered as he has been to Waiheke.

John will probably just stay home to take care of the animals.  You and Ange will have fun on your own!!
