BYE BYE
« on: February 11, 2022, 06:28:37 am »
I don't think I told you that we are going to see Joe and Susie, leaving in just a few minutes actually.  Joe called last week and says he is feeling good and wondered if we could come.  We haven't been there since November.  We planned to go at New Years but Larry was very sick with Sepsis so we didn't go.  I told him we could come Friday and stay until Monday so he was happy.  The next day he called and said "Why don't you come on Thursday if you can?"  I told him we could so we are going now, it's Thursday here.  I think he's really more lonely than Susie is.  I'll spend the days with Susie at the nursing home and Larry and Joe will hang out and entertain themselves.
I hope to check back in on Monday when we get home but at least you will know where I am.
Darien should be home soon I THINK???

Have a safe trip and enjoy meeting up with Susie again. I cannot believe it has been over 2 months since you were there !!!! I suppose Joe is maybe lonely now that he is feeling better and back to normal ! Still Annie etc should visit and make sure he is ok !

We got home about an hour ago.  I knew we were going but suddenly realized I hadn't told you girls but glad I did so you didn't have to worry.  Of course you can always check on me via Facebook with Pam.
I spent the days with Susie at the nursing home and we talked, played games and had a great time together.  Annie and Joe can't seem to believe I stay all day, I suppose it's because neither of them do it.  They are wired so differently than Susie and I are.  I took my lunch along and ate when she had her lunch.  She had them bring her lunch to the room so we just stayed there and ate by ourselves.   Joe and Larry picked me up about 5:30 each day and then I had supper with them.  Joe always bought something, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza, subs, etc.. so nobody did any cooking and that was fine.  Annie and family were over one evening so I saw them awhile.  It was a nice time and I know both Joe and Susie loved it.  Joe and Larry watched basketball, went to manly-man stores and had a good time in their own way.
I missed you girls of course!!!

It is so good to read that you and Susie had a good time together and I AM sure Susie loved having you there all the time xxxx You are a good sister  Is Susie getting along OK in the home nowadays ? Any complaints ? Good also that Joe and Larry got along fine as that would also be a change for them both :) NO cooking ! The best news
You did not miss anything special on here just my bit of a tornado and a dekcarc  window in the bedroom from flying debris !

Yes, I saw about your storm, that was bad!!
Susie just wants to GO HOME but she  never says that to me, only Joe which makes him feel so guilty.  I think she is doing fine there though I'm sure she is  lonely.  The people I see there and have talked to are way below Susie's mental state.  I wish she would find someone who is more "normal".   Most of the people are way older than Susie and just don't seem as with it as she is.  Susie's short term memory is bad but other than that she's quite normal.  If you met her I don't think you would notice there was any problem at all.

What a patient person you are Linda, staying with Susie all day like that. It must hard to see her in a place where others are much worse than she is, I know I had the same thing with David, it's very hard to watch
I love the expression 'manly-man stores'

I'm sure you know "manly-man" stores.    I think men everywhere love those places.   When I'm with Susie at the nursing home I don't really feel like it's hard at all.  We are in a room by ourselves and can talk, play games, work on her puzzle, etc..  It's not a lot different from the days when we would visit and she would be at home.   We can't go out to the mall or a restaurant or anything like that but it's not really boring to me at all to just be with her in one room.  I feel so sad though to think that she can never go home because I know she wants that more than anything.

Awww I feel so sad for Susie being stuck where she is and she cannot do anything about it  (((((((((((((((((((Susie))))))))))))))))))))) Even if she does not complain verbally to you Linda, do you feel her frustration or her worry that she can not go home ?

I used to sit with David for hours too, except towards the end when he was so very tired. Even then, when he fell asleep I would sit there for a while. I didn't stay all day though like you do with ((((((((((((((((((((Susie))))))))))))))))))))

Like I say, staying all day with Susie isn't a problem for me, we have a great time together so don't give me too much credit.  I can't say that Susie ever seems down in the dumps because she can't go home, I don't see that side of Susie, only Joe does.
Sitting there with David was entirely different from what I do Darien.  That would have been so hard.

((((((((((((Darien))))))))))))))))) You did well with David.

So Susie does not complain to you then Linda ? I am pleased that you enjoy your time with her and can happily spend the day doing stuff you both enjoy :)  I suppose it might be a change for you too, a different environment and a different way to spend your day :)

You and Susie have always had a close bond and I can see it certainly doesn't bother you to sit and play games all day with her. I think it would be normal to complain to Joe about her situation, he being there with her 24/7 for all those years and he would have the last say too I suppose. It must be hard for them both ((((((((((((((((((((Joe & Susie))))))))))))))))))))

It is hard for both Joe and Susie and possibly more for Joe because he feels guilty for not being able to have Susie at home AND he is very lonely himself.  Susie and I are both very easily entertained, it's almost impossible to bore either of us so we are happy with our simple time together.

SO Poor Joe now then feeling lonely  (((((((((((((((((((((Joe)))))))))))))))))))))) So why does he not try and find a better situation where he can be closer to Susie but also in a caring situation for her ???? There must be some sort of living arrangements available  ?
