Cash went to Montessori here for maybe a year before going to Primary aged 5 ...   It is just like a nursery school... ? They do interesting stuff....more entertaining than actual learning I think !
Jack went to the local Nursery school up the road from where we lived in Samson, Perth and from what I recall it was similar to the Montessori here !  Free playing  and open learning !

Yes Darien ...... " The Montessori Philosophy Over 100 years ago, Dr. Maria Montessori developed the Montessori Method of Education based on her years of research and scientific observations of children. This child-centered approach builds upon the way children naturally learn, and explores many concepts that you won’t find in a traditional preschool."

I thought one of the kids had been at a Montessori school.  I see they are a bit different maybe from other schools.  I think there is one here in Cedar Falls.

Some of ours are funded by the Government, so parents who meet the criteria don't have to pay the full price, which I think is not such a good thing. I really do believe that some parents want too much these days.

We have something like that too, I think it's called Head Start, a government thing.

Thinking back Annie did go to Nursery school in Maghull, Liverpool a couple of mornings a week... mainly because it was over the road from our house and attached to the Catholic Primary school where Madeleine and Dan went for the 2 years we lived there. :) We did pay but it was not much I am sure as I was not working then.

We then went to NZ and I worked a few days in the local Kindy opposite the Catholic school in Marton :)  Convenient and Matt went there for a few days a week..... when I worked .. for free :)  I had forgotten that :)

My kids all went to preschool but I have no idea what we paid, no memory of that at all but it was a LONG TIME AGO.  It was just 2 hours in the morning and I don't think it was every day, probably 3 days a week.

I think Kindy or Play school or Nursery or Preschool ....   does help young kids to learn how to integrate and when they get to Primary school, they do not find it so hard to join in :)

Right, it's more of a social thing for the little kids, they learn to sit still and pay attention to SOME degree anyway.  They did work on simple things like the alphabet, etc.  Did your kids watch Sesame Street, it's an American show but you might have seen it?  It teaches kids a lot of basic things.

My girls loved Sesame Street and it's one of the best shows for teaching little ones.

I thought you probably saw it too and yes, it is an easy way to learn basic things.  Do Zuri and Arli watch it or is it even still on?

PS.  If Jack or Cash want to go on here after school I often make them spell some word before they are allowed on and yesterday Sunday, Jack wanted look up something after he had already had his half hour so I made him answer the questions in the newspaper in the Kids X word in exchange for 30 minutes extra computer time :) He got them all correct except ONE !!!!!!
